Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you a few updates about my race.
You’re probably wondering what my trip looks like because of coronavirus. As of right now, there haven’t been any changes to my route or its duration. Adventures in Missions did make the decision in early march to send all racers currently on the field back home, but they have not cancelled any trips past May of 2020. They are hopeful and confident that they will be able to send us out and continue advancing the kingdom globally. This being said, I am continuing to fundraise and go forth with my plans for gap year. The only change that has been made is that my training camp will now take place in September right before we leave, rather than in July as planned. Another change that had been made prior to all this craziness is that South Africa has been added to my route! For one month, the girls will serve in Jeffrey’s bay, South Africa with the Global Leadership Academy. We’ll be teaching classes, helping with improvement projects, and doing various community outreach projects outside of the academy. I’m super excited for this new change and can’t wait to see what God has in store!
Fundraising is difficult as it is, but with the uncertainty surrounding coronavirus it has become harder. I know that supporters probably have questions regarding fundraising, so I wanted to take some time to answer them here. In regards to refunds, if my trip does end up being cancelled, they will be available upon request. If you would like to donate and have the possibility of a refund, you should donate on my blog site or to adventures directly by check (I can inform you of how to do so.) Adventures will also allow me to use the funds I have raised for another trip with them at a later date, meaning the funds I have raised will still be used. There is also a possibility that my trip would be postponed rather than cancelled, and in that situation, I would participate and use the funds I have raised.
My fundraising deadlines have not changed as of right now. My first deadline is June 17th, and I need to have $5,000. This deadline is approaching rather quickly but I am confident that the Lord will provide. I am currently at about $3,700. With the surrounding circumstances, my fundraising abilities are limited being that I can’t hold events. I would love to hear from you about fundraisers you would like to participate in, such as t-shirts and sweatshirts, adopt a box, giveaways, etc. I understand that this is an extremely tough time for many of us financially, and I am not trying to undermine that in any way. I understand that many people aren’t able to give right now. I am appreciative of any amount and all of your support both prayerfully and financially.
If you are interested in supporting me or know someone who might be, please let me know so I can reach out to you! I would love to answer any questions or concerns you might have. Thank you so much for your continued support! Praying for you all 🙂
